FVCK NO!

401k's are a scam. Not only that, but they're one of the most taxed forms of income out there.

"Hey, give me your money now and you'll be rich when you're 70!"

You're my dude and all but gtfoh with this noise breh.

Since I work for the federal government we have Thrift Savings Plan which I guess it the same thing as the 401k.

My agency will contribute an amount equal to one percent of my basic pay each pay date to my tsp account. Also they will match $1.00 for every $1.00 I invest for the first 3 percent of my basic salary, and 50 cents for each $1.00 I invest for the next 2 percent of my basic salary. The agency matching maxes out at 5 percent.

it's not just about having a 401k but knowing how to manage it. knowing where to invest and "diversifying" you're funds. funds like moderate and conservative get you nowhere. best to invest in s&p 500, and other funds with big returns. sure they tend to lose also but at a young age, risk is the best way to go. get as much as you can now.
