How is that an excuse? That's likely the scenario. That's obviously a reason he should steer clear of the situation, not a reason to consider giving her a shot.

it's an excuse cause he's trying to think up reasons why she staying with dude and hasnt left....instead of just accepting she's staying cause she wants to...just like 'her being scared of being alone' is an excuse....while it is true, people are more scared to be alone than be in a bad relationship, if she's as keep-able as he says, she wouldnt be alone long....so again, she's staying cause she wants to....

...it's ok, the majority of dudes do this at one point in time when thinking about a chick they digging that's in a 'bad' relationship....we'll (guys) will think about it, make up reasons in our head why she's staying, etc.; even talk with the chick about it, ignoring that while talking to her, she's answered why she stays: cause she wants to...she wont say 'cause i want to', she'll usually say something like 'i dont know', which is bullshyt.....after this time, op can use it as a learning experience...

True.....

If her current guy is an out of shape lame dude, and she's been with him for a while, that's obviously what she's attracted to. Whether she acts like she wants to leave or not, she has not and will not. If OP is the opposite of her lame boyfriend, she'll eventually gravitate back to her comfort zone.

OP is not the one that mentioned that her guy was taking advantage of her weakness. I pointed that out to him as a reason he shouldn't even bother with her cuz she sounds lost.
