Take two weeks off start the new job if you hate it go back to your old. If you love it quit the other.

This is a low-key :leon: move. Give it a trial run.

If not ... well, as long as you can maintain your current lifestyle, do what makes you happy. Personally I can't work at a place I'm unhappy in, no matter how much money I made. Eventually, I'd quit or move on. Only way I could suck it up long-term is if I had dependents/wife and kids to worry about. I don't. So long as you come up in the black -- at an area you're comfortable about -- when you subtract monthly expenses from your monthly salary... why not?

That 10x4 schedule tho ... :takedat:

I would take the new job.

Just counteroffer before accepting. I'm sure you can get them up to $55k and then it's worth it for sure

Current job: ~$59k total pay

pros:
-pays more
-not that much work
-unlimited time off

cons:
-I hate the company culture
-I'm not learning any skills to take elsewhere
-nightshift

Job offer: $51,000
pros:
-Better company culture
-Much more technical role
-10x4 schedule and normal work hours
-Can interview for a higher role after 6 months to get a raise + yearly merit raises

cons:
-Less pay when I am responsible for most of
-Grass is greener syndrome
-If I don't like this current job, can't go back

My qualifications are high school and a couple certifications so these types of jobs are hard to come by for someone like me, that's why I have to deeply consider taking this offer or not.

You are thinking to hard. Just think where you want to be in 10 years and go with the job that's on track with that. 9K difference in pay isn't worth the unhappiness especially if it leads you nowhere.

I always make sure to knock out a few certs before switching jobs. That makes me more marketable in case the new place doesn't work out. And I have to switch jobs again quickly.

Try to find inside information on what it's like working at the new company. Because if the place is a dumpster fire you could end up with a short stint on your resume. Employers tend to discriminate against candidates with short stints on their resume. But if you have some kind of skill or certification they need most will overlook short stints.

When investigating a potential employer I look up reviews on sites such as Glassdoor or Indeed. I also lookup information on whether the new company is financially secure.

I took a pay cut years back to bet on myself career-wise. When a job has little to no way to help you grow, that to me is an L in the long run. Bust your ass at the new position and you will make up that 8k difference over time + more

Get the new job, that work schedule is worth the loss in income, nightshift is horrible to your health, health is wealth
