What carrier are you on breh? I'm on AT&T next yearly 3gb per month and get a new phone every year. Contracts are out the door now. It's all about 12-24 month payments for your phone.
if your contract is up, get on the ATT Next yearly 3gb month plan. It's cheaper than my old contract, and I get a new phone every year

If you plan to keep your phone for 2 years trading it in will possibly get you more money than Craigslist, Swappa, or eBay. You can get $650 in trade in credits for a 16GB iPhone 6. You won't get that reselling it. Hell I can't get $650 for my iPhone 6s 128GB.

Because they give you a free iPhone 7 32GB or the amount it cost spread out over 2 years in monthly payments. If you keep the phone for the full 2 years you'll get $650 in payments which adds up to about $28 a month in credits.

All the major carriers are offering it last I knew. On Sprint for example you trade in an iPhone 6 or better and sign up for the installment billing on the iPhone 7 and they give you the 32GB iPhone 7 free. The catch is that the total value is divided up over 24 months meaning you have to keep the phone 2 years to get it for free. At the very least you can't pay off the phone in less than 2 years.
If you plan to get the 7 and keep it 2 years this is a great deal you're probably gonna be hard pressed to sell any iPhone 6 for $650.
