Field goals are tedious and route. They are even performed largely by specialists whom most players wouldn't even call football players. I believe the game of football start finish in the end zone, with winners and losers decided by touchdowns orchestrated by an entire teams' effort.
Actually, these guys are the only ones who CAN be called football players.

Foot + Ball = Foot kicking a Ball = Kickers = Kickers are the only legitimate FootBall players.

I'm really enjoying the engrossing and persuasive arguments for why the NFL should keep field goals. You guys are masters at not providing support for anything said.

Kickers are a part of the team whether you like it or not.

This isn't an argument. Merely because something is doesn't mean it should be or continue being. It's like arguing that a law should be a law now and in the future on the basis it is a law right now, no matter how ill conceived the law is.

No, that's not what I'm arguing at all.

Kickers are a part of the team, thus that kick is a part of the team's effort. Whether you like it or not

field goals add strategy and scoring to the game. it also involves an element of skill, even though we make fun of them.

as much fun as "touchdown or bust" sounds.. it'd probably lower scoring.

40 yard field goals turn into punts.

chip shots turn into turnover on downs.. and then another stalled drive after beginning with poor field position.

Thanks the clarification (it wasn't clear you were arguing this previously) but I wouldn't call the kicker's role to be as being equivalent to a team driving down the field. I don't think a team's fortune should depend on a dude that's not on the field but for a few plays a game. And when he's on the field kicks the football.
