NFL players have the shortest careers and the most injuries.
Their medical bills after playing can be astronomical.

The NFL has the highest revenue average per team of any sport in the world.
In the chart below:

Revenue average per team = Green.
Highest revenue of a single team = Yellow
The bottom number is the low revenue of a single team in that league.

So while in soccer, Manchester United generates 609 million dollars, on average the Premier League's teams earn 215 million -- significantly less than the average NFL team, 286 million. (These numbers are a few years old, but are largely accurate in terms of relation)

The League Minimum salary in the NFL is $435,000.
Even if you have 10 years in the league, the minimum is only $970,000

This seems a bit silly considering how much money the league generates.

The League Minimum in MLB is $507,500.

In the NBA this year, it's $525,093.

In the NHL, it's $575,000.

With the roster size and turnover it'd be hard. But I think 2 years of every contract should be guaranteed.
It's probably easy to have all this turnover because you can just kick a player to the curb with little financial impact to your team.

I think a lot of players aren't given the chance to develop properly because if they aren't stars within 2 years, they get labeled a bust and cut from the team.

It'll never happen, but yes.

It's only fair that if you want me to commit to you, you should commit to me.

Yea that's part of it but think about the mass amount of players that come into the league every year per team.

I'm never going to be in the NFL, so my point of view is I don't want my team to be stuck with some scrub becuase they aren't willing to part ways with him because his contract is guaranteed.

I say no.

Does your dumb ass realize in other sports every penny is guaranteed? Not just some?
What he's saying is they get massive signing bonuses upfront, usually within the first couple years of their contracts

It does help if you get cut after 3 seasons, at least you banked some serious money at time of signing

Not if you don't have someone representing you that can't negotiate well enough to get them.

DeMaurice Smith is a bum.

Do they deserve it though? Probably. Revenue isn't all that matters though, you have to figure that teams have 53 players and also pay practice players.
