It would be basically impossible to get a good team together with fully guaranteed contracts and the hard cap. The guaranteed vs. non-guaranteed issue is not the only factor in the equation. The players want, and probably should have, a bigger slice of the overall revenue, which is what they fought over in the lockout a few years ago. But even if that happened, as we see in the NBA with the salary cap about to increase, teams will just start giving inflated contracts to the highest paid players. The income gap will just continue to increase between QBs and great players vs. role players.

If the goal was really to make sure every player is taken care of, given short careers and injury risks, the players would get a higher share of the revenue, there'd be a higher league minimum and then individual caps to make sure one guy isn't destroying a franchise. But then, taking a significant individual motivator out of the equation, a lot of players might not be as incentivized to give 100% on the field, diluting the quality of the product on the field.

There really isn't a perfect solution that takes better care of players, allows teams to stay competitive, and keeps the product on the field great. You have to have a working balance of all of those. Right now it does seem like the players have been getting the shyt end though.

Is this a problem in any of the other sports?

No. I actually like the set up because it doesn't allow anyone (but QBs of course :beli:) to rest on their laurels. You gotta bring it every game, every year or yo ass is getting cut. And if you are truly a beast you can always turn around and get more money. As a fan, who wants their team hamstrung for 5 years or more by a bad signing? As far as injuries go, these nikkas know what it is going in. There are plenty of other professions where folks risk life and limb for a fraction of a percent of what these guys make so spare me the sob stories.

NFL is a disgusting League.

NHL - 71% of revenue goes towards players salary
MLB - 47%
NBA - 55 %
NFL - 37% :francis:

It's a high risk, low reward League & I seriously question any parent that lets their kid play that demonic sport. They're fleecing their athletes something serious & the fans will of course try to justify that shyt.

Paying them more guaranteed money would hurt the quality of the game, probably. So no I don't want them getting more guaranteed money. Do I think they deserve more guaranteed money? Absolutely.

Well, baseball sucks, NHL players make about the same money as NFL players and it's super hard to get into the NBA. So that leaves the NFL.

Do you realize that in the NFL they get a lump some of there money upfront unlike any other sport
Yet if they cut you from the team you never see a huge chunk of that cash. Gilbert arenas was getting $20 million last year or maybe the ear before even though he wasn't in the league because his deal was fully guaranteed.

You keep ignoring that a large portion of the contract is not guaranteed at all. God damn you are ignorant
No it's not. It's incentive laden
Not to long ago folk were saying those guaranteed contracts in other sports made players lazy
