Should the Cavaliers get a pass for Anthony Bennett?

As far as the guys we considered none are gonna be perennial all stars. Two guys that got star potential was picked later on and a lot of teams passed on them.

They made the worst #1 overall selection in history. They don't get a pass for that. In a draft filled with disappointments they chose the biggest one.


BUT, 3 years later, they won a title and washed themselves of that mistake after year 1. It's no longer their problem.

True but can you imagine a guy like Gobert with Kyrie and Lebron on the team..when they attack, all they have to do is throw the ball up and he would help K Love on defense as well

how were you gonna pull off a Kevin Love trade without including Gobert if you theoretically had picked him at #1?

Do remember, Bennett was part of the Wiggins trade and needed to be just to make the money work.

Nah, Bennett was touted as a boom or bust player by a lot of scouts. They obviously hoped for boom but received the opposite. I remember people saying Oladipo and Otto were the safer picks.

Looking at it now, Antetokounmpo is the last hope for that underwhelming draft.

There's enough talent in the 2013 draft that will keep them from ever reaching the fate of the 2000 class.

Bennett being all-time garbage doesn't stain guys like Adams, McCollum, Dieng, Gobert, Schroder, Muhammad, Plumlee, KCP and others still developing.

They tried. Nobody was fiending to move up in that draft. Noel getting red-flagged scared everyone away from thinking about it.

They'd only need 3 (Martin, Magloire and Redd and each of them only made it once. Antetokounmpo will probably get more all-star nods than them combined) Granted I think only Greek Freak and Gobert will be all-stars but they'll be there repeatedly. Others there will have good careers like Jamal Crawford does (and you can make a great argument that he's been the best player of that class and he never made an all-star team)
