40 secs is a long time. Why not move it down to 30 or 25? It'd add more plays to the game and speed it up. CFB is 25 I don't see why the NfL can't be :manny:

Nah in this case you cant make it about the fans, im pretty sure the players and the coaches find 40 sec useful

they should do something in the last few minutes of a game because I hate seeing teams just run out the clock so the other team doesn't get a chance to score. it's set up where they're competing against time rather than the other team.

40 seconds is crazy long. I mean, not to derail your topic, but the pitchers in the MLB need a pitch clock.
Jim Kelly's no-huddle offense was about getting plays in quickly so defense didn't have time to set up/read the offense. After a play, everyone on offense was scrambling to get into position and when defense saw that, they were scrambling too. To cut it down to 25 is more than enough time.

It's shorter in cfb because the clock starts on the refs whistle

In the NFL once a play is over the 40 sec resets and starts counting down, 40 sec really isn't a lot of time to get a play in, get up to the line, make your pre snap reads, motions and snap the ball

can an offense not choose to get to the line in 25 or 30 seconds? the option is already there, why force it on everyone
