People gotta realize that not every team has had a history of championship or bust expectations like the Lakers or Celtics.

Teams like the Grizzlies, Clippers, Raptors are enjoying their longest run of sustained success, so it'd be a hard sell to convince them to blow it up and go back to being bottom feeders

Well, it depends on what your expectations are. There's a lot of players, execs and fans who feel like if you're not competing for titles or even winning them, you failed. It's that Yankee style mentality except now everyone's consumed by it.

Do you really think that the teams who make money hand over fist and dont win titles are consumed by that mentality?

I dont mean the GMs,i mean the people calling the shots.

That's what I'm saying. Teams like the Raptors should just enjoy making the playoffs and having a CHANCE. Yes a small chance but it gives the fans something to root for and support.

The thing is that the Raptors don't really have tradeable pieces net that major additional piece nor do they have the cap space to get it. Not too mention, one of their best players is 30+ and is set to get a pay increase. So how does this team get better, when they don't have cap space/assets, and their core players likely won't improve?

They can acquire cap space if they let Lowry,Ibaka walk and trade a few parts...

DeRozan gotta develop a game outside of jumpers and getting to the line.... He's not worth that contract if he can only 2 do of those things.

Conley's contract is obviously outrageous but he damn sure tried to play like he was a $150m player in the 1st round, and he has defense to boot.

hes not going to develop a 3 point shot in his 9th year and hes top 5 in the league at getting to the line. The real issue is the coach, you need a coach that stresses ball movement..DeRozan is in love with playing teen wolf even when hes trapped he still doesnt want to pass the ball and Casey will not hold him accountable for it...Thats a huge issue.

Alot of this teams impotence i think can be corrected with a coaching change.

Unfortunately people(especially fans) should have that mentality. The NBA isn't MLB or to a lesser extent NFL, when just about any playoff team can fukk around and reach the championship game/win it all. At least with a rebuilding team, you can at least get hyped about the future if you net a high upside player or two(Suns; 76'ers, Knicks, Wolves).

Itd be easier for the Raptors to go back to bottom feeders than most teams because theyre owned by a billion dollar corporate entity that owns several other teams and the fact the Raptors are not the top draw in Toronto.

But beloved players in the past mentioned not wanting to go up North, who are you getting when the top FA's are expected to stay with their current teams.

The NBA is the only league where the best team wins every year (With the exception of injury)
