What ethical doctor is medically clearing this man to keep putting himself in position where he likely will get another concussion?
Unless he has actual brain damage that’s visible on CT scans, a concussion test is basically a bunch of questions and motor function exams.

Tua can pass or fail it if he wants to, it’s basically on him. The doctor can’t have him pass all the tests and then say, “yeah I still don’t think I’ll clear him…”

If Tua gets through the exam successfully and the scans don’t show any concerning trauma then they medically clear him. No doctor would do anything differently.

Medically clearing someone isn’t saying that you think they should keep playing. It just means they are clear to play… if they choose to do so.

He's kinda right though.

There's a difference between being cleared to play and saying "it's your decision but you're getting too many concussions and for your long-term health its better to retire".

What people seem to want is a doctor who will take the decision away from him and who will *forbid* him to play, and I don't think that's gonna happen. That's not even considering his contract, but just how the doctors work.

I hope he knows there's life after football and as much as he loves the game, he can still be involved without having to put on a helmet.

WHY IS HE LEADING WITH HIS HEAD
IN A 21 PT GAME
KNOWING HE HAS A HISTORY OF

Heads up football was a thing over 20years ago. Granted, it was emphasized on defense. But you supposed to see what you doing, not lead with helmet into a player. You'd get in trouble for it high school, coaches wasn't having it.

If you under 40, you know better. But college and NFL teams were/are not going to punish Tua like it would be grade school cause of monies involved.

Tua made a safety mistake his latest situation at the end of the day. High school coaches and lower are probably playing the clip as a teaching moment. Some colleges may play the clip, but probably not the big money making programs.

NFL fugazi about player safety because if anybody should be wearing a guardian helmet it's Tua.

His ass needs to retire not just for his and his family's sake but because it puts a strain on the other players on the field. As a defender do you pull up on the blitz? As a offensive lineman allowing a sack already makes you feel like shyt. They don't want the extra burden of thinking I just cut years off this man's life because a HOFer caught me with a swim move. I doubt Tua wants the players handling him with kid gloves but that's inevitably going to happen if he continues to play. The bag is secured. Hang em up.

Look...if you can't run into another guys stomach or side without getting a concussion, it's time to hang it up. Not even get tackled...YOU run into a guy...and get a concussion? You can't even slap box with your wife! The type guy who if he gets in a fight, fall and die.

Take the money you made and retire...
