not only does this teach the homeowner a valuable lesson about self reliance and fiscal responsibility but it also stimulates the economy as he will have to get a loan and hire people to rebuild the house.

who needs libraries? kids can access all the information they need on the web for free on their phones or they can just learn from nature, instead of having to be brainwashed at your institutionally run "libraries", the tax (theft) money used for libraries should go to subsidy companies so they can afford to create more jobs
water should be privatized, this will create jobs and improve the economy

Philosophically i'm in the yes it should be free camp, but logically i voted no. thread had me read up on the history of the supplier of the water system that i grew up on in new england and took for granted. lot of laws and financing was needed to build 19th century piping and reservoir system infrastructure. used to know a chick that tested water quality on the daily in the water company's lab. company is now owned by an u.k. conglomerate.
you want peace of mind when you turn on that faucet or bathe and ditto when you flush the toilet. both cost money in you live in a city or suburban environment. people in rural area have more freedom but still may have to pay for septic services. will try to find a story and post in the thread about a guy out west that got into trouble with authorities for building his own lake and water system.

An Oregon man has been jailed for 30 days for collecting rainwater and snow runoff in three reservoirs that he had built on his own property.
Gary Harrington, of Eagle Point, was found guilty two weeks ago for violating a 1925 law which says all water is publicly owned.
Harrington, 64, was convicted of nine misdemeanors and received a $1,500 fine in addition to the jail term.

Harrington surrendered himself to authorities to begin his prison term and said that he was sacrificing himself to stand up for liberty, according to AOL Real Estate.
‘When it comes to the point where a rural landowner can't catch rainwater that falls on his land to protect his property, it's gone too far,’ he told the Associated Press following his conviction.
Decades earlier, Harrington constructed two dams measuring at 10 and 20 feet, and has since collected nearly 13million gallons of water in his man-made ponds, which is enough to fill 20 Olympic-sized pools. He also built boat docks and stocked the reservoirs with trout and Bluegill for recreational fishing.

I'm not sure, what draining his ponds would do? The law says all bodies of water are the state's, even if you build it on your own property? Is it connected to any other body of water if he created his own lake?
