Should we acknowledge that CM Punk's accomplishments and 'trailblazing' is being erased because.....

I wonder how Punk feels about HBK, cause the original story stated that HHH & Shawn straight shytted on him.

But then there was another story where Vince & the writers were going in on him and Shawn was the one to say "If you dislike something about him you should fix it, not fire him"

I think like vince, hbk began to be a believer after cm pubk and undertaker had their feud on smackdown.

But even then none of them really believed until the pipebomb and even then as much shyt as they give triple h about bryan we have legit evidence of trips holding back punk...has ttips ever pinned bryan clean one on one? Trips legit vame out of retirement, pinned punk after the pimp bomb, then went back in to retirement :laff:

I think that's a fair assessment to make.

Punk in many ways was even less protected than Bryan was, maybe because Bryan backstage was a more likeable personality - that is a possibility. Both guys you could say were legitimately held back from being the stars they possibly could have been, and Punk preceded Bryan in that fact. I think both men would agree with that. I think it is also telling that Punk - even in his embittered current POV of wrestling - seemed to express the utmost joy that Bryan got his Wrestemania moment, even if it possibly came to an extent at the expense of Punk himself.

The first time to me when they dropped the ball big time with CM Punk was right after Benoit.

The barbarians where at the gates WWE had a huge shyt storm PR image problem, the fix was right in their faces and they did nothing with him. What a better time to use the straight edge guy the way they used Bret and HBK after the steroid trial. No let's not believe in him because he doesn't drink alcohol or smoke instead of combining straight edge with Cena's wholesome image.

Not only that they pick morrison who they mocked for potentislly being a cuckold and diss the guy who was fukking divas and dipping on all of them like the boys used to do :laff:

They found convenient rewsons to hate him and the logically stuff they could like him for they ignored
The only guy that was sober lost to regal whp got suspended for drugs after king kf the rkng

An interesting subtopic is imagine if Punk would have been used to/or reached his fullest potential during his WWE prime. He was big but could have been so much bigger.

For example, I feel that Bryan peaked and wasn't going to get much bigger than his YES movement, though he could have been at the same height for at least another 3-4 years easily. Punk, on the other hand, never really reached his potential as an overall superstar and it's a damn shame.
Punk's character wasn't as accessible as Bryan's

OP is correct though, Punk paved the way. I think the thing is 1. Bryan was a bigger indy wrestler than Punk and 2. if you would have asked anyone ten years ago who would make it in the WWE between Punk and Bryan, the consensus would be Punk. Punk was always compared to HHH and he seemed like someone that would thrive in WWE while Bryan was a wrestler's wrestler, not a great promo and not a politician.

Ah cmon breh, I'm a casual fan and even I know CM Punk "broke down," those doors

Dude just announced his retirement, can't ya give him a little break? Of course people are gonna be calling him the best there ever was, wrestling fans are pretty, pretty, pretty emotional

I never even liked either of 'em, give me 7 foot monster libertarians like Kane running rampant in giant steel cages

Nah breh punk was the biggest indy wrestler with aj styles/bryan/samoa joe floating for 2nd. Punk made himself the biggest fish by being the best heel in the indies

Punk didn't "play the game" the way they wanted him to which is difficult to be doing when you don't look like their vision.

He was ahead of the curve in a lot of ways as a performer and a mind for the sport (several things he was asking them to do they now do, acknowledge the UFC on TV, parade the WWE title around major sports championship teams, the way wrestlers are allowed to look bearded tatted hipsters etc)

They got basically forced to explore the red hot Daniel Bryan phenomenon because of CM Punk. Fans let them know THIS is what we want, it started with Punk and hit the bubble with how good Bryan got with that character/wrestling ability combo

They could have been everything as a rival tandem that played off each other that WWE has always wanted Cena v Orton to be if you think about it.

There's a lot of guys who are starting to be something in NXT and they're gonna get their shots due to what CM Punk went thru in opening those flood gates.
