Start by teaching them morals, values, and whooping them when needed. Letting them know that all that garbage you see on tv & hear on the radio is not where it's at. Practice their school work with them so they understand and don't fall behind. Make up creative things to keep their minds going. Take them out & tell them about there heritage cause unless they go to an all black school the only time they will learn abput there people is in February.

Of course parents need to love their kids. But also, whoop em (yeah i was raised on whoopings; not spankings) when its needed so they know right from wrong in certain situations. Teach then common sense too, you wont believe that its some kids in the world who havent been taught Stranger Danger 101.The key thing for children is to teach them discipline and love. Both these components are the foundation to a healthy and well-balanced child that loves himself and his people. We must teach black children at an early age to love their black skin and black community. My parents used to show me pictures and movies and tell me stories about blacks in Atlanta when I was a kid and it had an amazing effect on me. Community raising children is key as well.

These parents are so lazy now and days they expect schools to teach them everything. There are still some things that need to be taught at home by your parents to be a better person.Schools should not be raising kids. They are there to teach academic knowledge.
You cannot run away from a strong family unit.
I agree with most if not all of ya'll but how are these kids going to get what they need at home if the parent(s) see work more than they see their own children? I honestly believe that most parents in our community are of course single mothers (no shade) and are overwhelmed with all of their responsibilities that child rearing gets thrown to the way side. Not to point blame at single mothers at all, but they definitely need help teaching and developing these kids whether in the home or out.
