Dreads are nasty. Period. Get a cut every week like a boss.

I was cutting my hair every week like a boss. Then i found out i have folliculitis devalvans (scarring alopecia ) which prevented me from doing that. Pills and shots didnt work. My doctor actually recommended locs. I loc'd my hear last July and havent had a problem since. :yeshrug:I wash them every 10 days

No hell they didn't considering the area is barely black compared to other cities. Miami is near the Caribbean, The Florida dudes was rocking dreads in the 80s.

The southern states caught on and then the bay caught on.

They bay wasn't wearing gold fronts either.
the dread trend started in the bay in the early 2000's i'll admit that...but we been rockin gold ones for a min since it was part of the pimpin culture

No way, History of gold teeth is rooted in the South and was started by a New Yorker( Hip Hop wise). Hell, gold teeth started in Africa if you want to get technical. It's older than pimpin culture itself( which was started by a southerner I might add)
Muslims had gold teeth as a way of signifying they took a trip to mecca. Many Senegambian slaves brought this with them to the new world. Gold teeth are also a status symbol in Eurasian countries and also the Ancient mayans had them too. Back in the early 1900s, Black people would fix dental problems by covering it with gold/ sliver because of lack or proper dental care and it slowly became a status symbol.

The correct answer is florida. The jamaicans influenced the black americans in florida to wear dreads. Wayne moved to florida in the early 2000's and really got more young people wearing them. You can talk about some irrlevant rapper doing it in 95 or some shyt but before wayne dreadlocks were really not that popular for african americans.
