The video for the song went live in June and has more than 500 million views on YouTube at the time of publication. Silento was in competition with The Weeknd for sales this year. At one point in September, "Watch Me" sold 82,623 units and reclaimed the top spot on Billboard's R&B/Hip Hop single sales chart over "Can't Feel My Face."

The site says the 17-year-old signed a contract with Capitol Records that includes provisions for four albums. Silento is projected to earn $50,000 for his debut project and up to $500,000 for each additional LP.

All I want to know is how much of the publishing from that song did he retain.

You really never know how long your dance is going to last. If your dance is for teenagers and young adults, you get two years max. But the fact that it's a dance for little kids means it might be around for a long time.
