After he gets "knocked out", he clearly puts his arms up to avoid any cheap shots by Weidman, then grabs Herb to avoid him stepping on his head. Usually, especially in UFC, when a cat gets knocked out, you see the ground & pound with 0 resistance. Meaning the guy is getting hit and his face just stays there with no reflex, which is when they usually stop the fight.
