Silver considering playoff format of top 16 teams instead of 8 per conference

What does this have to do with anything?

As it currently stands, the only coastal team that woudl make the playoffs under this format is Miami. That's not gonna provide any interest (ratings) from NY, DC, Philly, etc. Miami is really not even a big market to be honest so Chicago would be the only big market team in the East to make the playoffs under this idea.

It would be a nightmare for the NBA.

Then the league would be forced to market other teams for a change. The NFL doesn't have an issue with ratings no matter who's playing. The NBA should be able to do the same thing.

breh football is the #1 sport for a reason nobody cares about the smaller market teams for 82 games no marketing that plus the NBA is built on star power while the NFL is the greatest one week event for 16-20 weeks on TV. When is the last time YOU watched a raptors and bobcat game or a wizard and bucks game.

business wise it doesn't make sense? how is awarding a non competitive team with a playoff spot making sense? no ones going to playoff game to watch thier sub 500 team get swept out of the playoffs, it makes more sense to have alot of 7 game series with full arenas no matter the area.

This assumes that no East coast teams would make the playoffs under that format. We talking best of 16 in a 30 team league. If you can't get into the top 16 out of 30 then frankly "fukk you, you suck and you don't deserve shyt"

Beyond that what do you do if no east coast teams make the playoffs with the current system, just give them at large bids? . People watch the NBA playoffs to see stars...this is not a regional game breh.

Keep the conferences but yeah make it Top 16. Then again they'd have to change the draft too...
