Guys can't shoot freethrows...so the answer is to make it so you can force them to shoot free throws
This is a prime example of why the nba is so soft right now

15 of the top 20 players in basketball couldn't play in my cousins youth basketball league because they can't go 3 seconds without traveling
I've never seen lebron or steph not blatantly travel while dribbling a ball longer than 5 seconds

It is the same. We're talking about INTENTIONAL fouls. The only difference is that those guys get fouled away from the ball. If you wanna take that aspect of it out, fine, but instead of a hug on Drummond without the ball, the second Drummond catches the ball anywhere, he's gonna turn into a defenseless receiver in football and get gooned on quick. If the penalty for fouling a crap foul shooter is 2 and the ball, guys are gonna start using their 2 flagrantly judiciously and make them count

These dudes need to try underhanded free throws or something.
When games turn into hacking farces, I turn the game off. Every single time. I can't fathom how that's good for the NBA, especially when the Clippers and Pistons will both be playoff teams. There's nothing basketball about chasing guys 30 feet from the ball to hug them for an advantage
I bet you'd rather watch a pitcher bat .100 than see a designated hitter too
Why have fouls if you're gonna reward teams for it?
I think it's more about punishing intentional foul away from the ball though.
