Simone Biles wants Zendaya to play her in a movie

That's the point she and I have been trying to make in this thread. Everyone is jumping down Simone's throat for picking a light skinned, mixed actress but won't blame Hollywood for the lack of options for teenaged darkskin actresses that are well known and always in commercials, on magazines and generally given opportunity to become household names. It is white Hollywood's fault for not casting them.

What kind of retarded logic is this..youre desperate to prove a point but you dont have a leg to stand on.

So youre trying to tell us that Zendaya is the only actress out there working,are there no Black girls on tv and film past and present to identify to the point she has to pick a white girl to portray her.
Youre blaming hollywood execs for simone being blind to the existance of other Black females

It amazes me that people have such loose standards. These opinions are based not on scientific fact but rather on their own personal agenda's..for example if they are attracted to mixed girls, they'll claim zendaya is Black just so they dont feel guilty about their attraction to mixed girls.

If they dont have the guts to stand up to cacs and tell them to shove the flag up their ass, they'll rally behind a tanned white guy cause he leading the fight so they anoint him an honorary Black person.

I cant say Im Black with two Black parents, then allow someone with only one to claim we're all somehow similar and in this together.

Yep. I'm not even sure when it got this bad. It's like some black people don't know what a black person is of who is black anymore. Then you see some use the excuse of all blacks having some admixture to justify that a mixed person is black. It's like they don't understand 20% (often less) isn't equal to 50%. If I have a white 3 times removed grandparent, it's not the same as having a white parent. It sets us up for infiltraters such as Rachel Dolezal.

Anyways, it's gotten so ridiculous lately. And of course mixed people will gladly accept being black when it's convenient, they get a special ranking amongst black people. They are often held up as being better, better looking, and are easier for white people to digest; hence them being able to get roles that should go to actual black people and other benefits. Sadly many black people have low self esteem and it's at the root of this issue.

When being asked who she wanted to play her in a movie, she picked someone she considered a peer, a girl close to her age. The fact that their are few black girls close to her age getting work and attention in Hollywood had an influence on her choice. We spend thread after thread talking about the need for representation in Hollywood, this is the result of that lack of representation, people start settling for the closest thing they can get. Gabby had to settle for an actress twice her age because she couldn't think of anyone close to their age that looked like her. People brought up Lupita but she's in her 30s, Keke has done a lot but never got the mainstream push Zedanya is getting.

We get the same tired ass actresses over and over again : Meagan Good, Nia Long, Sanaa Lathan, Regina Hall (the whole 90's black woman crew) where are the NEW, young teenage to early 20's black women? Non-existent.

I'm not gonna call em' tired, you have a point here. I want to see the younger generation or least other black actresses making big moves. this doesn't excuse Simone though

It is so hard to break in as a brown/dark woman, especially now.

Back in January when I was in LA, I went with my homegirl to a party at the W. A reality tv dude (was on two popular shows some years back) approached us and went on and on about how beautiful I was and how he hopes for the day he can see more women like me on tv cause and how he can't stand the bias against darker women.

People recognize it, but we don't have the power to change it.
