It can be confusing b/c of the way stats are presented. Here is a more updated stat for blk women single moms.
Number of Black single mothers in the U.S. 1990-2016 | Statistic

Basically 4 million blk women are single moms. There's close to like 23 million blk women in the U.S. So there are about 20% of black women who are single moms to 70% of black babies.

The other 80% of blk women are either single and childless at 40% or married with 40%.

But now u take this 4 million blk women number and tease out details about these single moms. Roughly half of these chicks are NOT the evil, thug loving hoe narrative that so many dudes falsely spread here. In fact half of these women were married and divorced or are widows.

Also only half of those 4 million single moms are living in poverty, few recieve child support and few are on welfare.

So basically everything we think we know about single moms is bullshyt racist propaganda.

So that 70% number looms over us, but they never tell you how many black men and black women are actually parenting these children. So we think it's more people than it actually is making babies, when in all actuality it's a few black women and blk men being reckless while the rest of us ain't even playing.

But when u think about it, it makes sense. We are only 12% of the U.S. Population at something like 43 million people. Half are males and half are females.

Not all blk people live in stereotypical hood settings around stereotypical baby mama drama. In fact i grew up in a mid-lower income blue collar neighborhood and it was RARE to see a chick pregnant. Out of my graduating class of 250 there was one blk chick who was pregnant. I graduated in 2001. When I went to college I was surrounded by black chicks who were once again NOT pregnant. And that's the same deal for thousands of college campuses around the U.S.

But u go on Worldstar Hiphop, internet, forums, news and these alleged single moms are EVERYWHERE. But they will never give u any raw numbers as to how many black females ages 18-44 are single mothers.

So in a research to public practice class statistics class, a professor hipped us to this b/c somebody brought this up. He asked does it take 70% of women to have 70% of children in a given community? If these mothers have anywhere between 3-4 kids (which they do), then it only takes a fraction of these women to have the majority of children in any race...especially if no one else is having babies.

So we looked at all the data and I'll be damn if this shyt wasn't true. In the U.S. alone out of ALL the mothers and fathers who have children, there are ONLY 12 million single parent homes male or female of all races. And only 9 million of those are single mom families. And out of that 9 million, 3 million were white, black and Hispanic prospectively.

So we asked, is this accurate b/c it seems like more. He said it's very accurate b/c childbirth data can be pulled from school systems and is also linked to benefits. It's hard to fly under the radar if u want services.

We all suffering from confirmation bias when it comes to our community. The majority of blks aren't poor. The majority of blks don't live in the hood and aren't on welfare. But since around 2005, the majority of a LOT of black children have been born to a relatively small number of blk females and they have 2 and 3 and 4 siblings, sometimes by different daddies.

The rest of blk women who aren't in marriages are choosing not to have children...at all.

I literally just feel like if me and u just randomly pulled 10 black women of a certain age off the street... at least 5 would be single mothers, never married... 2 wouldn't have kids... and 2 would have kids but divorced... and 1 would be married.
