People be making these GOAT debates more complicated than necessary. I think we could universally agree on the following criteria on what makes a top 3 all time player:

1) Were they elite offensively?
2) Were they elite defensively for a long period...with a desire to play defense even in old age...
3) Do they have historical accolades whether reg. season, playoffs or all time numbers?
4) Did they lead their teams to multiple chips with at least 4 titles on their resume....

Under these simple guidelines only these 3 men qualify:

1) Michael Jordan - No explanation needed...

2) KAJ - No explanation really, but some people sleep on the fact that Kareem was one of the goat defensive centers and rim protectors in history in addition to his offensive records.

3) Kobe - 81, 12 All Defensive Teams (record for a G), top 5 scoring all time, 5 titles :wow: nuff said...

Kobe lead his team to 2 chips, so according to your own formula he’s disqualified, unless we’re going to move goalposts on what leading is. :yeshrug:

Kobe Bryant was not an elite defensive player. Those all defensive teams selections were fraudulent. Everyone knows Tony Allen should've taken those spots in the mid to late 2000s.

Kobe being a top defensive guard my ass lol.

GOAT list

KAJ
Jordan
LeBron
Russell
Magic
Duncan
Shaq
Bird
Hakeem
KG
Wilt

Kobe is a top 15 player, anybody that got him above that is a total Stan.

What accolades does Kobe have in the postseason :dahell:

here comes the highlights of him playing the spurs, 1 team when they had to face 4 to win a title :dead:

By your criteria Duncan should be number 3. Dude LEAD his team to 2 titles with no other all star (D-Rob didn’t make the all star game in 1999, was 34 years old, and was coming off a broken back and foot 2 years prior, still a solid contributor). Then lead his team to 3 more. Talking defense? He got robbed a fukking quadruple double in the finals and not that Draymond 10 points bullshyt. Did it while scoring 20+.

Imo Duncan is the biggest trump card too all the Kobe goat debates. Whatever criteria you have for Kobe applies Duncan other than scoring.
