‘Sin City: A Dame to Kill For’ Pushed Back to Summer 2014

those anxiously waiting to see the overdue Sin City movie sequel will have to keep being patient, now that the film has been pushed back another year from October 2013 to August 2014. Dimension Films and the Weinstein Company have yet to give an official reason for the delay, at the time of writing this; meanwhile, Rodriguez is still going to release his first non-Spy Kids movie in three years this September, in the shape of the Grindhouse throwback sequel Machete Kills.

The Sin City sequel, like its predecessor, is a collection of short stories that jump back and forth in time, but are woven together by the various inhabitants of Basin City. Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For” comic story serves as the unifying thread, with Josh Brolin playing Dwight McCarthy – the younger version of Clive Owen’s character in the first movie – and Eva Green as the femme fatale Ava Lord. Miller wrote some original story material for Rodriguez’ sequel, alongside Oscar-winning screenwriter William Monahan (of The Departed fame).

It’s possible that Dimenson and the Weinsteins decided that Sin City 2 would fare better during the dog days of Summer, as opposed to an early Fall launch date (a spot which failed to serve last year’s violent Dredd comic book adaptation well). Warner Bros. has postponed 300: Rise of an Empire – which is another Miller comic adaptation starring Green – from this August until March of next year; that may have, likewise, affected the decision to delay the Sin City sequel… again.

Ouch. This is usually bad news and means 1 of 3 things.

1) movies aren't doing well with test audiences
2) the studio thinks it's a disaster and/or has no confidence in the movie
3) somehow they figured out that another release date would better suit it

I'm going with 1 or 2. Time to go back to the drawing board.

I cant say I'm surprised.
Even though it took aaaaaages for both sequels to get made, they only started shooting like winter 2012 from my understanding.

After seeing the 300 trailer i think the movie is going to suck. The first one was raw af, this looks like a theatrical version of itself.

Though I want to see both movies I don't think this is a bad thing. GI Joe got pushed back a year and it still did well at the box office. I could care less about numbers myself though. I just want two good sequels.

That Yellow b*stard looked toned down from the graphic novel, they left out the part where senator roark shows up to watch bruce willis humiliate himself by saying hes a child molester, His wife visits him in the hospital and its really an emotional scene where shes crying and says even if he just lied to her she'll stand by him (the scene was filmed but theres no emotion there at all from the actress who plays aileen.) That yellow b*stard was so nerve racking to read the first time i read it in 02 that the scenes with nancy and hartigan had me feeling the same way after i saw flicks like "old boy" and "Leon: the professional"

Anyway this films central story is based on "A dame to kill for" which should be dope because this is where marve knocks out manutes eye.

I heard in the third one they want to do "Hell and Back" which i thought was cool, however rodrigues says he wants johnny depp for the role of Wallace, I think it could work but depp doesnt play action heroes.

Oh yeah considering what stories they chose and the sequel to that yellow b*stard, theres going to be a sh1tload of Marv in this one
