I'm from Seatown and also a Mix-a-lot fan but I've hated this song from the beginning. He's had much better tracks.

it sold 2.5 million in the us, back when cds were $4 that would mean $10M in the us in 92 alone.

100 seems much, I mean it's been in countless movies, series and has been sampled a bunch of times.
100 though, perhaps :manny:.
A. Cassettes were the choice at that time.
B. He has his Masters and its a timeless song so his royalties for it will be very high.
C. He still tours and has a very large fanbase.

He didnt say he made 100Ms he said that the song itself has made 100M. He's gotten a good chunk of it though if he owns his publishing.

How does that work?
Someone wants to use the song for a commercial, so they cut him a check?
So what if a person uses it and it makes 10 million dollars, do they have to keep giving him a cut or do they cash him out that one time only?

We are talking about singles here, they came in cd-format before iTunes remember. But it was obviously cassette tapes and all other formats that I was referring to.
