No they won't. That team wouldn't be ready to compete for 3 or 4 years at best. And by that time rookie contracts will be up and the talent will jump ship to a real franchise.

Dunn
Covington
Ingram
Saric
Nerlens

With cap space and Oak/Biid off the bench is a possible .500 team that can take guys by surprise in 2018. Their talent will be RFA, so the Sixers can definitely keep a majority of their top picks if they want to.

If they get Simmons or Ingram... I think their outlook will be alright
That's still an if, and that's still a "hope" situation.

Imagine if they end up drafting either of those guys and the one they draft ends up being a bust. :snoop: Even worse, ending up in this situation may lead to that player being a bust anyway, particularly if it's Simmons. It's one thing getting drafted by a team that's bad, which essentially happens to every first pick outside of Duncan and a couple of others, and ending up drafted by a team whose soul purpose was to lose for the last couple of years; it's hard for a rookie/young guy to turn around a losing culture, particularly when that losing culture was created on purpose and the guy who created that culture (assumedly) is going to still be there.

They have a lot of good frontcourt talent (and maybe even another in this years draft). So much talent they may have to trade one. On paper they should have a good young core next year. I think they will be more aggressive in free agency than previous years and get some decent role players. They won't make the playoffs but they can devop and build some confidence next year.

Tanking is an incredible gamble. Everybody points to the Thunder as a team built thru the draft, but they fail to acknowledge how incredibly lucky they were. 1st they draft a generational talent, but because they play in a loaded west he fails to significantly impact their record and they're back near the top of the lotto. They draft another MVP level player, but he takes a bit to find his game and they again end up at the top of the lotto. Which lands them Harden. So not only did they have to draft well, they actually had a lot of things go their way. Put that rookie Durant team in the east and they're probably rolling with KD and DJ Augustine/ Jared Bayless the next year :heh:

can you believe these clowns were a game away from the ECF just 4 years ago? League should make an example out of them and take their next 2 first round picks.

Let's be real. The ONLY reason they made it that far was because they got matched up with the Bulls who lost Rose & Noah during the series and then after that their youth caused them to be a good matchup with a geriatric Celtics squad.

They weren't winning anything with a team built around Jrue Holiday, Evan Turner, Iggy & Thad Young

Waste of time unless they secretly have 2 all-star caliber free agents ready to sign in the offseason.

They haven't drafted well and Embiid most likely will never be healthy enough (in Philly) to warrant his draft position.

Teams have spent 10+ years in the lottery u cant penalize a team for not wanting to stay mediocre and in this league if ur not in a market that's 85 and sunny year round with celebrities courtside the only way to become a contender is to get lucky through the draft. I don't understand why people who aren't Sixers fans care what they do, they have no effect on the overall product of the league.

I don't mind it at all. I just look at it like an interesting case study in the different ways to build a team. I'll continue to track their progress because I'm intrigued at Wray the end result will be. I don't fault them at all for what they're doing. It's an approach that hasn't been done with this type of dedication before and in the big picture they really haven't been at it that long. I think it's just amplified because of the length of the nba season.

Like hell they cant :dame:

If you pick in the top 5 two consecutive years issue a win quota for the 3rd year and if they don't meet it they're stripped of their pick. See how many teams do this blatant tanking shyt then
