Let me talk about Skip Bayless for a second. Skip Bayless was the oldest on air personality at ESPN and was also the highest paid personality at the network. How is that you ask? Bayless is great at branding himself. He sold himself as a guy who has contrarian opinions to the populous. He often takes unpopular stances and run with them until the wheels fall off like he did with Tebow and his disdain for LeBron. He takes polarizing conversation topics like deflategate and takes a contrarian stance on it.

For instance, initially he thought the Patriots should be punished and stripped of multiple first round picks for deflategate right after the news came out. Then when he saw everyone agreeing and thinking they should be strictly punished he took the opposing stance on it and started saying he thought Brady was innocent because he could hear it in his voice .


I say all that to say that Skip Bayless is just like Kim Kardashian and other people that make a shytload of money by providing you nothing of substance, don't hate them, study them and learn how to brand yourself to get in a position where you can sell nothing and make a lot of money in return.
