I know a lot of dudes on here hate women or hate their own lives, whatever. But she isn’t asking to be paid the same salary as Harrison Barnes or NBA players. All she is asking is for the WNBA to give their players something close to 50% of the revenue like nba players receive.

That’s it. Stop being stupid, please.
She could have made that point and kept barnes name out her month, he didn't deserve to be slander by her bs talking point. Besides that nba/wnba profit margins are totally different and shouldn't be compared ;50% revenue in a dead league like the WNBA isn't realistic at all

A) I agree that the Barnes shot was unnecessary
B) no one is talking about profit, we talking revenue.

Its really not helping their cause by calling out NBA players...they should compare their salaries to G League players since they have around the same attendance....
Don’t know about that, the Santa Cruz Warriors always sell out

MLS players union been arguing for more as well, and for charter flights.

Why bring it up?
To point out that sports leagues of smaller size typically do not have the conditions they are speaking of. She talks of commercial flights like it's similar to taking a broken down bus across the country, which is a reality for a lot of men's leagues.

Mike Trout, Mookie Betts, etc drove through the night on shytty buses just to arrive at another podunk stadium the next day. And WNBA players are going to complain about flying in a plane full of businessmen, ceo's, and other working people? I don't get their point.

And I'm not saying that they have no right to complain just because someone else has it worse. I'm saying that their conditions seem fine and that they should not be comparing themselves to NBA players in the first place because they are nowhere near that level.

Do you understand economics?

Even if they generate $500 a year, the league is only giving them $100. She wants players to get $250.
the nba subsidizes the wnba....without nba money, the wnba would fold within a year. Since the wnba officials/lawyers struck that deal with the NBA, they believe that they should get majority share because they are the reason the wnba is surviving, not because of the players skill.

of course the nba is the opposite.....advertisers would still make deals with players if there were no league officals or lawyers.

technically nba players are underpaid and wnba players are overpaid

it is reasonable to ask for more compensation, but she didn't have to disrespect Harrison Barnes like that, because it takes more effort and skill to be an nba all star than a wnba one

Do any of us actually know what the WNBA revenue figures are?

It is interesting that we don’t accept that 14 of the 30 NBA teams lost money from the owners but then accept that WNBA teams are not generating any money.

The league itself is massively profitable. So much so they can "underpay" stars like LeBron James so the Harrison Barnes's of the world can share in the wealth and the James' still can have contracts worth hundreds of millions of dollars. The WNBA does not have the profits for a 50% revenue split, if they are even profitable at all.

Breh, you are never wifing up Skylar Diggins so stop imagining.

And she is never getting 50% revenue split, so she can stop imagining.

The assumption has been up to now that the WNBA has been a league run in the red rather than the black and survived on the support of the NBA.... but the way these players are talking maybe there’s more money being generated than we originally thought or know.

If so she’s absolutely right but otherwise she and her fellow players should understand the economics of their situation.

BRI between the players and the teams is based on profits and future expectations. You can't request a higher revenue share when the revenue you're requesting is probably already in the hole.

That dude had the nerve to ask someone else if they understood economics before making a statement like that. nikkas are so committed to their Coli gimmicks reason goes totally out of the window.

Skylar Diggins compares her salary to Harrison Barnes’: ‘Do you know his stats? Was he an All-Star?’

WNBA players are pushing for higher salaries, better travel accommodations and more attention.

Somehow, Harrison Barnes got caught in the crosshairs.

Skylar Diggins, via Wealthsimple:

I’m the highest paid player on the Dallas Wings, and my salary is in the low six figures. [Harrison Barnes, the highest paid player on the Dallas Mavericks, made $24 million last season.] He’s definitely younger than me. Do you know his stats? Was he an All-Star? I mean, it doesn’t matter. But last year, I was First Team All-WNBA, which only goes to five players. I was also a WNBA All-Star for the third time.

Diggins is better in her league than Barnes is in his. But the NBA generates far more revenue than the WNBA.

WNBA players should get as much compensation as they can negotiate. There’s a case they’re underpaid based on current conditions. There’s an even better case their product would improve if they were treated better. Due to the WNBA’s low wages, many WNBA players play overseas during the offseason. Couple that with long commercial flights, the players get worn down.

In that regard – the focus on player wellness, including prioritizing private flights – the NBA can be a model. But in terms of salaries? The league’s financials are just so different. Diggins should find a better comparison point than Barnes.
