The thing is, even though this is fake, this is all well within our current technical abilities. I mean think about some of the systems that we already have on the battlefield. All of our airplanes basically fly themselves. All of the sensors that are on weapons systems, esp missile defense, air to air defense...all that shyt is already automated. Think about the machines/robots used in manufacturing - especially very small items. They have sophisticated cameras/processors etc that guide an arm or some other attachment, either miniscule or larger than an SUV, to construct all types of products, some incredibly sensitive/fragile. Obviously we already have drones (flying or tracked vehicles) that can shoot any type of gun or missile. Imagine every human being is able to individually control a robot in the field. If the robot is "killed" or disabled, he uploads into another robot waiting to be deployed. You could have an entire army of robots, a small number controlled by humans and the rest autonomous. A drone flying overhead can "paint" the targets as well as civilians/friendly forces and you just sit back and let the robots do the dirty work.

You make a good point, but the technology we currently use for warfare is actually more effective already , a drone is better than a humaniod bipedal machine armed with a 9mm pistol. We low key surpassed that design already.

Different needs breh. Just being able to bomb something from the sky sometimes isn't enough. You still need to find the enemy, root them out and hold territory. Think also about security/peacekeeping missions or daily patrols. A lot of the soldiers that died in Iraq/Afghanistan were killed by IEDs planted along roads/paths used during patrols. Think about how robots will take away the power of the ambush - the one strategy/tactic that revolutionaries/insurgents/terrorists have used to win wars against larger and stronger opponents. Imagine a crew of a cpl humans and a whole gang of robots. Each of whom have sensors that will detect and locate ambushes/gunfire almost instantaneously. shyts gonna be crazy.

To @Luke Cage point...anything that looks remotely human won't be the most effective at killing. I actually think nano-swarms will be used to decimate people and infantrymen.

It looks corny in movies, but I can't think of a more precise killing machine.
