Man that’s really tough based on the amount of projects he has but off the top I got:

1) The Easy Truth
2) Salvation
3) Barrel Brothers
4) All The Brilliant Things
5) Theo Vs JJ
6) The Great Debater
7) A Dream Deferred
8) Music For My Friends
9) Retropolitan
10) In Celebration of Us
11) Peddler Themes
12) Live From The Deck
13) Cloud 9

That’s off the top of the head so if I really think about it I might change a couple but he has so many projects it’s hard. And that’s not even counting his Penny series, the Jazz series he did and a couple I probably forgot

Rep.

Just because you have The Easy Truth as number one.

That's a good list. I gotta think on mine.

I think it's pretty crazy that 9th Wonder and Pete Rock are about as good as it gets, and Illmind and Skyzoo have amazing chemistry, and yet the full albums that Sky did with all 3 of them are all in the lower end of his discography.

I noticed that Retropolitan, Tape Deck, and Cloud 9 are all in the bottom half of your list, and they're all in the bottom half of mine too. I do have Tape Deck over those other two, though.

I remember being real disappointed when Cloud 9 and Retropolitan dropped. Both are very hit and miss with me. There are a few songs on those that are some of my favorite songs of his, and others that I think are some of his worst. And literally everything about Retropolitan sounded perfect on paper (and even the lead single was fire), but the final product just didn't turn out that way.

The thing about Skyzoo is he doesn’t really make anything that is bad, it’s just that some of his stuff can get monotonous. The projects with 9th, Illmind and Pete Rock aren’t bad they are just kind of bland but all of them have a few really good songs. I really like Glorious, Audacity of Dope and It’s All Good on the Pete project but the rest didn’t have much replay value

ditto. repped as well. its crazy to say that The Easy Truth is easily my favorite album by him because he has nothing wack.. at the bottom of his list he put Live from the Tape Deck and Cloud 9, both which were great. you really could mix this list up any kind of way because he had ADD, MfmF, In Celebration..., and Peddlers Theme really low and them shyts is fire. ADD is really hip-hoppy and In Celebration is very cerebral.

I'd be curious how you rank his albums.

I was running through the discography this week and forgot how much I liked Live From The Tape Deck. That was an interesting time, because Illmind (who produced all of it) hadn't stopped sampling entirely yet, but he was gradually moving away from sampling, and I think that album had a really cool blend of styles.

Going through the discography, I think the ones I enjoyed the most are Brilliant Things, Music For My Friends, Salvation, and Dream Deferred. I liked Great Debater and Retropolitan a lot too. I really wanted to love Retropolitan, but I think it's on the B-Tier instead of the A-Tier for me.

I never got really into Milestones or Bluest Note. I'll try again. And for some reason I never heard all of Easy Truth or Peddler Themes. I'm hopping on those today.

And I never loved Cloud 9. Which is weird because I love 9th Wonder. There's an album Skyzoo recorded all produced by 9th and Khrysis that he did about a year before Cloud 9, and I like that one more.

Yeah this project is dope. Music for my friends and Barrel Brothers are tied for my fav projects from/with him involved.

My only issue with Sky is that he tries to sound like Reasonable Doubt Jay a bit too much and has a tendency to reach with some of his bars/get by on delivery. Dude is a dope emcee though, I rock with all of his stuff.

Thoughts on Live from the tape deck with Illmind?

shyt is dope to me, felt like he was rhyming over some 1980's action flick or sci-fi production musically:russ:

. Lyrically/stylistically he was about the same as he usually is. :manny:

I appreciated it more for the sonics, basically dope beats and rhymes.

I think that album was ill. It seems like he not working with a lot of the producers he been known to work with in the past.

That's the brotha that plays Raekwon on the Wu Tang series. I'm still tryna figure out what brought forth that line from Sky though

Shameik was on some c00n shyt last year when George Floyd passed. He was saying that black people should no longer blame racism for the cause of police brutality and that Rosa Parks should have travelled in a black-owned taxi company rather than protest during the Civil Rights Movement in 1955.

I like it. I love that phase of Illmind's production where he was getting into his no-sample bag, but he hadn't left the samples behind yet. And Skyzoo hadn't gotten so lyrically dense that he was more difficult for me to follow yet. I bumped it front to back last night and enjoyed it way more than I remember.

Langston's Pen was a perfect closer song.
