We're lucky we have them. In the 1930s the WPA collected narratives from former slaves. Now by this point you have the last of them passing so its just a small sample in addition to the works written by former slaves themselves.

I think it's important for blacks to read these. Straight from the horses mouth. And with today's racial politics and the constant attempt to rewrite the history of American chattel slavery, these exist as stories set in stone. No reworking or twisting of history will ever change them.

i hate that shyt :damn:
fukking ultra-progressives started this bullshyt.

It allows for fukking Asians, Arabs, White Hispanics, and pretty much anyone that isn't a WASP to claim that they suffer from racial discrimination.

Those sorry ass white historians like U.B. Phillips tried to discredit slave narratives by saying their stories are embellished...fukking cac historians have worked hard to discredit slave narratives but we must continue to spread these experiences far

I remember watching this documentary in my all of my Afro history classes... There were a lot of stories that angered me. I wound up watching most of the 2nd half before I realized it....

Now that I think about it HBO hasn't shown to many documentaries that cater to black people like they usually do in February.... That's real fawcked up HBO.

its sad how many stereotypes are prevalent today that existed then...
for example, the man only being able to visit his family on saturdays :to:
putting salt and red peppers in wounds :to:
i wish i didn't have to see no white people today :damn:

i watch things like this and then think about this notion of "white guilt" that these people throw around.
it usually is people of color :mjpls:
