Depressing how the game released more than a decade earlier has more attention to detail and accuracy

idk if yall remember but shut your mouth had some of the best AI in a smackdown game i have ever played.....play SYM and HCTP on hard and watch all the little cool stuff the cpu does in SYM...HCTP had a nice roster but the cpu sucked

HCTP was the primary reason I ended up getting a PS2 back in the day, and it lived up to all of my expectations. Like Esco said earlier, that's my favorite wrestling game ever. It's crazy how far the games have regressed in recent years though. It's like they know the WWE name alone will sell so the developers are just like

They've done some good things with the current games like directional attacks, weapon interaction, better caw features and wwe 13(which is basically a re-release of wwf attitude). My issue is them taking things away like moves and the ability to create your own entrance video. I still play hctp but real talk i can barely sit through 2 matches on no mercy. The game that could've been the game changer was wrestlemania 21 for the xbox, the graphics are still the best ever produced for a wrestling game and the motion capturing was ridiculous. The problem was the game had little moves to choose from and glitches out the ass, on top of unlockables being ridiculously expensive.

For most guys if it's not HCTP, it's No Mercy, but HCTP is my favorite wrestling game of all time.
It was amazing at the time.
Pops got it for me on release day. With the grappling and limb system, it was piff.
You could methodically picks the legs or arms apart with Benoit/Angle and see the effects during the match.
You could cripple the torso and beat someone into a vegetable state using the brute strength of Lesnar/Goldberg.
Heavy hitters felt like heavy hitters.
The cruiserweights were faster than everyone else.
The technical guys were dangerous to grapple with.
The game was innovative as hell for its time. 21 different match types.
Huge roster. Season mode was straight, also.
The only drawback was that it didn't have commentary, but the commentary in these games has always been the worst part so it wasn't missed.

What's sad is Hollywood Hogan looks like shyt on 2k14 compared to his SYM model, which also has his steroid turtle shell gut and old man stance.
