Sell while you can. Music is only gonna get more disposable. 100k new songs are put on streaming services EVERY DAY.

Albums come and go in a few days then forgotten. You’re lucky if you get a song that will be used in commercials and movie trailers.

Sell now.

Obviously these guys aren’t making money off their music anymore so they’re getting the big bag upfront. It is what it is. People call you :flabbynsick: for owning physical media now. People out here making more in death than when they’re alive.

he should be taking notes and planning his exit. a lot of artists in for a rude awakening if they think holding on to their catalog will result in bigger returns down the line. the industry is not what it used to be.

aerosmith, sting, springstein, timberlake, and bunch other huge artists way more successful than slim already seen the writing on the wall and cashed out. rappers on tail end of their career better get it while they can.

shyt just the other day they announced AI generated music is now eligible for grammys.

Nikkas that never even sat in a industry boardroom calling Slim dumb :mjlol:

Dude dropping gems about ownership. Isn't this what black folks been crying about for 40 years?

You don’t own just to own. You own a business to make money. If you own a business that will net you $5000 a year for 25 years and someone offers you $150,000 for that same business, you’d be a fool not to take the money upfront. This is an extremely simplistic example, but it’s what these artists are doing. They are taking the net present value of an annuity in this case income generated from catalog. It’s the same principle when lotto winners take the upfront money instead of annual payments from the state for 25 years. Cash is always king because future income streams are not guaranteed.

let that man drop free game, it might help some of these artist
Not in dollar value.....not even in the same league.... I mean you can choose Thug catalog as a preference but music as a business Master P's catalog is significantly more valuable

I wasn’t speaking on the dollar value

I’m a fan so I’m more concerned about the art. That was part of Slims message, make good music to sell and stop hoing yourself out

His catalog isn’t worth shyt

Dude has 760,000 monthly Spotify listeners

He’s in for a rude awakening years down the line if he think he gonna be making $ off his music

He lucky he was on Still Tippin a record that’s been sampled quite a bit in recent years and might be used in some commercials or movies down the line
