gonna check this out, I'm in the minority but I always preferred Young RJ's beats over Black Milk's. On the one album where you could tell who did what and they weren't under the BR Gunna name, RJ's beats on "05" hit harder imo.

it actually kinda does. i know what you're saying though.

Yeh the mic presence on both Fantastics is fukking awesome

they had flows and great breath control, as well as a dope ad lib game. Phonte said he sat down and was just studying how they delivered their rhymes on those albums before all the LB stuff started to come together.

bingo. the verses were instruments. plus, it was hilarious how utterly vulgar the content was given the "backpacker" status of the group.

i'm the type of person that doesn't buy into beats can make a classic. even Group Home, as simple as the bars were, added to that cake.

Black Milk (primarily) produced Set It, Can I, Call Me, Multiply, Hear This, Hell Naw, and Ez Up.

IMO the 05 album is the third best SV release after both Fantastics. T3 and Elzhi killed it and production and guest features were on point. This is disgustingly good:

Don't get me wrong Young RJ has his moments, that Lovely track he produced for Phat Kat is fukking flames, that one De La Soul track he produced is wooooooo:

Some of his stuff gets repetitive though. Nice drum break over some melodic filtered piano/synth, rinse and repeat ad infinitum.

you sure Black Milk primarily produced 'Ez Up'? that's my favorite song on that album and it has RJ's stank on it IMO. Sounds like he had his pops bring in some session players from the old days and beef up the funk. Black's beats tend to be colder and stripped.
