Smackdown Spoilers for August 22nd

WWE Smackdown Results

Randy Orton does an in-ring promo about Roman Reigns, and says that SummerSlam was just one battle, but he will win the war. He hypes tonight’s match against Rob Van Dam as an example of what he is capable of.

(1) Seth Rollins def. Jack Swagger via count-out. Said to be a good match. Rollins hit the Curb Stomp on the ring apron, and Swagger ended up getting counted out on the floor. Bo Dallas comes out after the match and gives a motivation speech to Swagger, so it looks like the program they started on Raw will be continuing.

-Backstage, The Miz asks Corporate Kane for a shot at the Intercontinental Championship. Kane says he’s got to earn it, and won’t just be handed the opportunity again. He books Miz vs. Roman Reigns for later tonight.

(2) Rusev def. Sin Cara. This was basically a squash match.

-Rob Van Dam is interviewed backstage, but is interrupted and attacked by Randy Orton. They fight out to the ring and a referee ends up staring the match.

(3) Randy Orton vs. Rob Vam Dam ends in a no-contest. The brawling never actually stopped. After the “match”, Orton hits the Hangman’s DDT off the barricade, into the floor. They roll back into the ring, and Orton hits an RKO into a chair. The beating lasted longer than the match.

Roman Reigns cuts a promo and says he's gonna get Rollins for what happened to Ambrose on Monday

(4) Natalya def. Paige via submission. This was a Raw Rematch, and a very short one at that. AJ Lee came out and stole the Divas Championship. Paige went after her, got caught in the Sharpshooter, and tapped out.

(5) Stardust & Goldust def. Luke Harper & Eric Rowan. The Rhodes Brothers are getting win-after-win here, so they may be next in line for the tag titles at Night of Champions. After the match, the Wyatt Family beat down the Rhodes.

6.) Roman Reigns def. The Miz. Randy Orton made his way to ringside at the beginning of the match. Following the bout, which Reigns wins with a spear rather quickly, Orton and Reigns brawl on the outside. Orton attempts an RKO on a chair, much like he did to RVD earlier in the show, but gets a Superman Punch instead. Reigns looks strong as the show goes off the air.

This is silly cause he shouldn't be beating Rollins and he's not going to be able to take multiple losses like Ambrose to me . The two protected ones should stay far awaaaaaaaay from each other for now until Rollins cashes in on him

Haven't they referenced each other on smackdown and saved one another there ?? It feels like they have but it doesn't translate to raw where it's like they use to be a team both hate the authority but can't watch each other's backs when orton / Rollins / Kane are doing shenanigans . Ambrose it makes sense cause he's kind of a loose cannon stone cold dta type character who seems to only interact with Seth while we see reigns constantly tagging and interacting with other people on the roster .

If they play it right reigns /Ambrose vs orton /Rollins tag match with Kane involved somehow to take the pin or set up the screw job could headline a nonbrock show . Or have the faces lose and set up a traditional survivor series Match with team Ambrose/reigns recruiting niccas vs the authority squad adding on idk shame as Rollins bodyguard from the former shield guys . Im reserving judgment but operation push reigns at all cost might backfire hard , hell imagine dean is a good actor and this movie is a success ????? While reigns is out there tryin out his 100000000000 catchphrase and doing the 4 moves of doom?? They know a crowd will definitely hijack shyt now it can be a disaster

I like reigns and dot. Recall want I exactly said but I was alway high on dean and Rollins from his roh days . I had assumed they would milk the shield longer and reigns wouldn't be getting ready for this spot yet

Nah breh, I'm talking about the Cena leech thing people push around here. It's BS to me but Reigns trying to "Cena" his way in was comedy gold. Funny though, because people were saying Cena was trying to leech off Reigns only two or three weeks ago.

You can't compare Reigns to Cena tho. Cena more than likely has a choice. Roman doesn't.

And yeah Roman has saved Dean's ass on more than one occasion. Never the reverse tho

I love it tho. I like that they acknowledge the Shield connection because there are still people that are completely oblivious to the fact that Roman and Dean are fighting against the Authority, albeit from different angles.
