I think that the reason they broke them up is because doing so instantly gives them three main event guys and makes the roster look much deeper rather than having to throw 6 guys into one match every pay per view.

They basically threw Bootista/Orton/HHH/Rollins/Ambrose/Reigns into one match the last two months when that could be broken up into 3 matches and make the overall lineup of a PPV much stronger.

they still could have announced it on tv that they were done...maybe Dean and Roman are just allies like Cena/Sheamus and not necessarily a team anymore...
