she's an icon whether you want to acknowledge it or not. She mothered the style as far as fashion, and stage presence of a lot of females who came after her.
I don't disagree she was a trendsetter in the 80's and 90's but then she became a trend hopper. Also I was coming from a musical standpoint. She is an icon but if you're legacy is staying around that doesn't speak all that highly of the quality of her music.
