Many "political commentators" are just unprincipled people appealing to a particular audience's pre-existing views. It's a career FIRST for them. They may be politically ignorant, apolitical, or even privately loathe the views they praise in public.

Really, this is it. There's a lot of us out here that have been fortunate enough to experience the success they set out for, and have lost sight of the kids overarching picture.
My grandparents went through the same thing. They built themselves some wealth, and for a little bit, they disconnected from reality. They eventually came back, but it was rough for a while.
Read this book recently which is about the life of a black serial killer name George Russel Jr. up in Washington in some wealthy mostly white area called Bellevue and Mercer Island.
Dude was a real c00n and was real obsessed with white women and being accepted. Of course they mention he took on the conservative views of the people he lived around.
But even the white people in the book the author interviewed who knew him saw his self hatred and thought something was wrong with him for it. Anyways, there is a part of the book where a white acquiantance from high school is talking about his issues with acceptance among the white upper class and also with white girls in school. This white friend was able to make the astute observation that despite all his "white talk" and charming personality that at the end of the day the whites in his neighborhood always viewed him as a token negro and he always tried to "outwhite" whites. A likeminded pet to have around who makes them feel good and less guilt about being racist because of knowing a "black guy". He mentioned, that in highschool that while white girls in the school were never rude to him and thought it was cool to hang out with a "black guy" the idea of dating him never enter their minds. It was like an unspoken rule that its something that is not even feasible. Anyways, he topped it off that no matter how much he talked white and ingratiated himself with whites he was always the token and the guy speculated this led to some of his issues. He even told of one anecdote where he was cooking at a girls house and the girl offered to help and he said "nah hun that is the ******'s job"
I wonder if these paid c00ns deal with the same cognitive dissonance and social dynamic of being praised and propped up by their white cheerleaders for shytting on black people but no matter how hard they try, they will always be put on the outside.

Pre-Civil Rights era, many Black conservatives actually did stuff. Even if you don't agree with Booker T., he basically educated a large part of Black America, directly or indirectly. Other conservatives built businesses to employ Black folks or traditional religious organizations. Same with Garvey and many Black entrepreneurs.
Nowadays, they just write op-eds and books denying anything good is in the Black community unless it is imitated by others or forced on us. I can't think of any Black conservative except maybe Robert Woodson who has even try to build and establish anything past their reputation.
Because the ideas, beliefs, and the policies you favor shouldn't be shaped by who else agrees with you but by the merit of the idea/policies/beliefs themselves. Should Nazis supporting single payer healthcare turn you against single payer health care?

This has some truth to it. People don't realize, if there was a hypothetical Black political party that was not affiliated with R or D, I could imagine it being split between two wings with traditionalist and super progressive type Black folks with the latter in the minority. The fact most Black reps in DC are real progressive on all issues is more a testament to the Dem machine than the actual Black community ethos.
