All the fast food places by my grandparents house in Chicago got bulletproof glass. Even the pizza places got glass with the enlarged slot so you can fit a pizza box through.

I first saw that at a Burger King somewhere in Brooklyn early 2000s..3 inch thick glass with an opening like Hannibal Lector's on the far end to collect food
