Facebook already tried to make an app that worked the same way and it failed so miserably they'd rather pay $4 billion for Snapchat.

These guys were offered $500 million last year, $3 billion from Google months back and now $4 billion from Facebook. You know these companies aren't leaking these figures, seems like these guys are posturing companies against each other baiting them to go over the top with an offer

Obviously it comes from the potential, but the expectations seem pretty lofty.

Here's a pretty interesting article on what a company would have to do to make Snapchat worth that type of investment. Doesn't seem worth it to me.
