Grammys have nothing to do with quality. It's all industry politics. (gotta attend them gay mansion parties)
2Pac never won a grammy.
Biggie never won a grammy.
Nas went by most of his career without a grammy until recently.
Wu Tang never won a grammy.
Ice Cube never won a grammy.
Snoop Dogg has never won a grammy.
Mobb Deep never won a grammy.
Grammys are typically given out to artists that white people are fond of like Kanye West, Macklemore, Will Smith, Eminem, etc.
I find it disturbing that people actually take this shyt seriously.
Grammy's are all about industry politics and not to take seriously. It also has an extremely checkered past with Hip Hop from the very beginning.
Agreed.
With that said.
There wasnt a category for best rap album until 1996.
The only Snoop effort that would have deserved a Rap Album of the year award came out three years before the award actually existed.
Sorry Calvin.
Pac? Although he didnt win and probably deserved too, he at least got nominated for two out of the three albums you could make an argument for 1995 and 1996. He was at least recognized.
Big? Ready to Die was still a year before the category existed. Life After Death was nominated.
Nas. The Leonardo Dicaprio of Rap when it comes to better late than never recognition.
Wu? Nominated. ODB nominated. Ghost nominated. Meth won for Best Rap Performance at least. Like you said the artists the whites like.
Cube? N/A His best work was pretty far behind him when the category was created in 1996. Nothing past 1996 even deserves a nomination. And he's in my top 10 Number 6)
Mobb Deep? They were robbed of a nomination. Their buddy Pac was robbed of a win.
As far as the whites go, you're right, but you're lying to yourself if you dont think Snoop is on that list of whitey's favorite rappers.
Same goes for Jay who white people loved since Hard Knock Life sampled Annie. Its why he holds the record for the most Grammy nominations in Rap for a reason. Cacs heart Hov.
Kendrick is definitely white approved and is a Grammy darling. I think when its all said and done he'll be more of a Grammy darling than Jay.
Lets not forget Drake. White peoples other favorite white rapper. His Grammy sucess is definitely questionable for a number of reasons I wont get into. Dont want this to get derailed.
Grammys are definitely hugely biased due to the white people in charge of the thing. You just left out some key artists deeply within their good graces.
Feel free to use them to strengthen and flesh out your argument.
