Nas went by most of his career without a grammy until recently.
Wu Tang never won a grammy.
Ice Cube never won a grammy.
Snoop Dogg has never won a grammy.
Mobb Deep never won a grammy.

Grammys are typically given out to artists that white people are fond of like Kanye West, Macklemore, Will Smith, Eminem, etc.

I find it disturbing that people actually take this shyt seriously.

Sometimes even that isn't enough. Look at Frank Ocean for example:

I've seen a lot of industry execs shyt on him despite 2 very highly rated albums. Why is that? Probably because he finessed his label, gave them a throwaway project to finish his contract, and then released his actual album independently weeks later.

Doggystyle and the singles for that and his work with Digg Pound and PAC deserved Grammys, the others it’s like whatever lol

It’s definitely “whatever” because the Grammys don’t matter at the end of the day. My only thing is even those singles like “Beautiful” or “Drop It Like It’s Hot” could’ve won because lesser artists/songs win over deserving ones all the time.

In order for someone to be snubbed you have to provide the year they were nominated and didn't win and should have. I did a quick search just on rap song

"Beautiful" in 04 but lost to "Lose Yourself". Can you really argue that? "

Drop it like its hot" was nominated in 05 but lost to " Jesus Walks" can you really argue that?

Sexual Eruption In 09. Lost to Waynes "Loilipop". That one is debatable. Snoop clearly had the better song but Wayne was on fire at that time. No way he was gonna lose

again with the coli, two things can be true as once. a grammy does not validate what matters in hip hop, however, a grammy is the top award for music artists and even they want to win "the big one", it's nice to see legends or legendary songs have a top award on their resume, but it doesn't invalidate them if they don't.

Given that Grammy's didn't really give out hiphop Grammy's until like 96, I can't name a year that he should've won.

It's like wondering why (edit say Melo or Stockton, mixed up Malone) never won an MVP, longevity or being a legend is not what they are trying to honor here.


So really he's never been snubbed. He had strong singles like Drop it like it's hot, but they lost against even stronger singles like Jesus Walks (and 99 problems, Hey mama), or Beautiful vs Eminem's Lose yourself (and In da club and on). Grammy's is about peaks, just like the MVP.

The first hip hop Grammy was awarded in 1989 for Best Rap Performance, then it got split into two categories (solo and duo/group). Snoop could have won in 1995 for "Gin and Juice," even though he was up against some tough competition.
