I don't think anyone was discounting his albums like you claim though. Saying he was in his prime and people disagreeing isn't shytting on his post 96 discography.

The beginning of your career isn't what I would call the "prime" you could call it his best era if you want.

snoop is easily the most marketable rap star on the planet, from movies to TV shows, to cooking shows on talk TV to products to porno to being in the news in general. Its not like he's some overlooked guy thats average at best. Didnt Jay alone just perform a random verse off a mixtape on the grammy's last night... thats at least 7 degrees removed from his prime alone and mixtape shyt prime never defined when or what an artist got or deserved
