important to remember when people blame white music execs for pushing violent gang rap to the masses that mainstream rap actually used to be positive and the street nikkas said get that corny bullshyt outta here :pachaha:

@MC Hammer In A Business Suit :pachaha:And if you think about it he was exactly that, way before Pac. Who you know that'll dance and smile in the AM and send out a hit squad in the PM that'll have you reverse what you were saying?

Dope tune though, Hammer could always put together a jam and he laid the blueprint so many followed after criticizing him. Also:

Lyrics like this? On a mainstream release? In 1990? Crazy how its still applicable today on both sides of the race divide, no less, as people hate themselves.

You feel inferior
You wanna be superior
You imitate the man
Who don't wanna be near ya

Step to the left
Look at yourself
You are you and nobody else
Your skin is black
A different shade of brown
Your tin is too hot
So I will bring it down
Can change your voice
And where you live at
But the bottom line is, brother
Black is black

And this all time blassic:

Looking back Pac and Hammer had way more in common than you'd think.

Hammer did some sambo shyt and got called out by lots of black people. Over time those opinions on Hammer changed. You have to remember no one outside of Hammer’s camp really knew what he tried to do with helping his community out back then. We were all too young to know the depth of that.
