I try and I try and I can't get into this game

I love RPGs. Love a good anime. Gave this game 20+ hours and still hasn't grabbed me.

Just saved that dude Kanji. All the way up until the fight I was but then I actually felt a little sad for dude after I beat his shadow's ass.
