Love Jay Z. Was the first rapper my young mind identified as a rapper/hip hop artist and introduced me to hip hop artistry properly beyond songs my folks played and what came on the radio. I might've mentioned before that I bought and read his book decoded–great insight into his mind and memoir over his career–that being said, I fully realized as I got older that whole hip hop GOAT claim was careful PR and public image curation built up since probably immediately post the end of Rocafella Records, but the kids clearly don't buy it.
Plus with the internet, you got Southerners from that generation (late 90s/early 00s) telling anyone willing to hear how they never bumped Jay Z like that and never heard many of his songs outside (I feel this is a bit revisionist, but hey, that's what them nikkas be saying)

Still a proud HOVenger, idc
