I just looked at a ton of footage and starting to question my decision to pre-order all these damn PlayStation VRs
so far.shyt reminds me A LOT of the Wii and its motion controls. shyt seems real cool for an hour or so, but then it starts to feel gimmicky. Plus, there's no killer app for VR yet.
I wanted to love VR so much, as those that follow my posts on here know, but I gotta say: I'm disappointed.

Did you get both already? Or just the Rift? I have a feeling that Mirror's Edge might be the very first game that makes this worth checking out for me.
The launch of HTC Vive and Rift seems trash. Lots of people didn't get their stuff yet and what's out isn't particularly game changing. Regardless, this doesn't change the trajectory of the technology. Hardware requirements, pricing and availability are hampering the install base right now. It's quite myopic to think VR is solely a gaming peripheral.

I will get my hands on them here in a few weeks to see what's up.
Yeah I am still hopeful, but it is such a tough thing to launch given all the factors. This is why I did not understand why Valve did not push out a game (Half-Life 3) with VR support right at launch to have people go crazy. They print money, they can do whatever they want.
They are pushing the VIVE hard on steam right now with shovelware to go along with it
I don't think this will be a repeat of the Wii though. There is just so much support out there for it while with motion controls only Nintendo was eating.

Sony's gonna have to save VR. Gran Turismo VR, Rez VR. 
My gut still tells me the preferred way to game will still be a controller and a TV. I don't believe in VR yet. It would be dope if it succeeded though.

Controller + TV will be better for a while, but we shouldnt look at VR as a replacement, more just as its own platform.
That's an interesting way to put it, but for my pessimistic behind, it just supports my concern that it'll just be another peripheral that collects dust in the end.
Nobody can play it yet because it's an Oculus Rift exclusive, and Oculus has fukked up the launch and nobody has their Rifts yet (including me).
shyt got bad review scores though too. I bought it in anticipation of my Rift (which I was told was coming in March....
). I'll do my impression on the Rift once I get it (they say a mid-April ship date now)I'm also gonna make a new thread about VR (since I'm the only person on here with both a Vive and Rift). I'll explicitly outline the pros and cons, the games, and the pros and cons of the Rift vs. The Vive, etc.
If the Rift is like the Vive, it's gonna be a pretty negative thread. I'm not gonna be pulling any punches. I wanted to love VR so bad, but as of right now, shyt is underwhelming as fukk
