So are you a fan of the "new" WWE style?

Flippy shyt! Big bumps! Finishers spam! Nearfalls! Every match!!

  • Love it, it's miles better than 5-10 years ago

  • I like it, matches are consistently better than before

  • Not a fan, it gets repetitive and losses it's impact fast

  • Hate it, everything ends up being meaningless and doesn't make sense

For the past 2 years there's been a clear shift in the way most important matches are worked on the main roster. There's been a clear influence by guys that worked on the indys for a while, where there's a tendency of doing more moves and nearfalls to grab the crowd's attention, and it's something that at this point almost everyone on the roster does every chance they get.

This isn't a new thing in wrestling at all, but for a long time WWE tried it's best to reduce these type of matches to a minimum, only letting wrestlers work like this for big blow off matches, really marquee matchups or at Wrestlemania. Now we legit get it every week in 1 or 2 matches each show. What's your stance on it?

We've all discussed the quality of the matches, specially this year, I fall on the category of getting tired of this style when it's done as much as WWE has been doing it lately.

What's interesting to me is that if this shift happened 8 years ago I would probably be losing my shyt over it. But after watching it on the indys for so long I can't help but feel burned out with it watching it so often and with lackluster crowd reactions.

you forgot the "cue 'this is awesome!' chant."

I think that's another issue. Crowds are becoming worse each year, they even ruined the "you deserve it chant" in 1 month :snoop:

Hate it.

The constant counters and reversals need to go as well. Very rarely does somebody pull it off and make it look good, often it just looks like two guys highly cooperating with one another.

"Pedigree! No, Dirty Deeds ! No... oh here it comes the pedi-, no."

Yes, theres never been more of a differentation between styles in its history and I mean that in the great way. I love where WWE is in ring.
I appreciate where you're coming from but the complete lack of selling undermines all of it I feel.

I don't hate it, but I wished they reeled it back a bit. Finishers should be protected more (Sami Zayn kicking out of the AA on his first night? Really?) and if there's a big impact move that looks like it should be a finisher, just let that be the finish. I remember Seth and Dean had a good lumberjack match at SummerSlam, but there was one point where one of them got powerbombed on a pile of chairs and they still kicked out! It was like "C'mon man!"
