He only had 3 games last year where he threw 3 picks. One game with 2. The other 12 games he never had more than 1, including 7 with ZERO.

He threw for 4,000 last year which means he had a very good year throwing the ball. Would you rather have seen him with more 300 yard games coupled with more 100 yard games to achieve the same benchmark?

He threw for more yards than any rookie QB in the history of the league. The most rushing TDs for any QB in the history of the league is just another dimension.

smh it's MY thread, meant to discuss Cam Newton not yet showing much progress as a PASSER and yet dudes on here were quick to crown him as a top 7 QB based on empty stats last year in large part due to his skin color and flashiness.

this thread wasn't even meant to knock Cam, it was more so an indictment of some of the dudes on this board who were so quick to anoint him because they were desperate for an elite black QB when he hadn't proved to be that yet... now that he's come back down to Earth and is going through growing pains like any young QB would, it's "Cam's still young, he'll figure it out" when last year it was "Cam the GAWD... dude might be a top 5 QB in the league right now, fukk it"

the reason I brought up 300 yard passing games is because there's no precedent for a QB being successful over a long period of time when he can't sit in the pocket and make accurate throws and good decisions consistently... am I saying Cam will never be able to do that? Nah, just that he hasn't shown that up to this point, and yet you idiots were crowning him already

his rushing stats were great and all, but again, there's no precedent for a dude who runs that much being elite for the long haul... Tarkenton never won shyt, Cunningham never won shyt, Vick never won shyt, etc. I don't really count Steve Young as a running QB because he's 3rd all time in passer rating and led the league in TD passes

Why Steve Young can't be a running Qb just because he did those things? He has about the same amount of rushing yards as Randall, Don of them McSawgb and Fran. He's a running QB that excels at passing.
