or another thing that irritates me when posters troll or stan certain fighters within boxing or mma and know absolutely nothing about anything else within the sport...that's even more pathetic to me

Yea, casual fans ruin everything.

I'm more of a fan of boxing since that is what I grew up on but I respect the discipline it takes to be a UFC fighter and I look at that too.

Both are great and I wish people wouldn't fall for Dana White's marketing tactics. I think boxing appeals more to the casual fans because the probability of matches ending very fast is low. I also think casuals are put off when an MMA match is ground heavy.

Boxing should have taken notes from MMA and force a unification. All these belts in the 100 weight classes has fukked it up for many and is too much shyt to follow for the regular sports guy just wanting to watch a fight. The belts mean nothing anymore

Yeah bro. At least boxing fans know a flop when they say it. Silva going down with slaps and nikkaz is swearin' he was properly defeated :heh:

:wtf: one of the angles showed he was clearly out before he even hit the ground

i dont like how a flash kd in mma basically is upgraded into an automatic ko since the other fighter will just jump on you and hit you while youre down

I mean really in terms of competitive fights this year. Boxing has displayed more competitive and diverse matches then anything that the MMA has shown this year...
That's mainly because boxing has been around longer and has a wider base of grassroots programs and support worldwide, i.e. more boxing clubs, more boxers, more boxing coaches and trainers. I don't think that's going to change in a long time either.

shyt, i've been watching UFC since Royce Gracie became the first UFC champion. But anyhow I was specifically talking about this year 2013 in terms of competitive matches. I think this year so far Boxing has won by a landslide.

i think this is mostly what has put me off boxing. i always loved it as a kid but damn its very meaningless when there are up to 6 different belts per weightclass. if they unify all the belts boxing would resurface as the best combat sport but until then UFC is still winning.

I can't think of an MMA match that was more exciting to watch this year than Bradley vs Provodnikov for example.

The UFC in particular for the last 5-6 years have been matching the best against the best. The problem they're having is they've exhausted a lot of those fights. Remember during the whole Pacquiao Mayweather fiasco, Boxing was getting criticized for that fight not being made, yet the Champion vs the #1 Contender happened almost every PPV in the UFC. Right now Boxing is on the upside with exciting fights on the horizon, but UFC for the last several years have been matching the best against the best, something we wish would happen with Boxing as often.

There really isn't a #1 contender, you dont even hear that word in boxing because of too many belts.

MMA is ok but that ground and pound stuff is the dumbest shyt I've ever seen.

Either get a submission on or break em up.

you know its funny you mention bradley-provodnikov...i remember there was some cat in here who gave his reason for not liking boxing because the klitschko's ruined it for him and how it was easier to appreciate GSP's technical mastery which was an extremely stupid thing to say..if i remember GSP did fight on the same night as bradley-provodnikov..which the majority of the mma heads lauded as a snoozefest and paled in comparison to the bradley-provodnikov fight lol

GnP is a great tactic though. Its very similiar to having a fighter on the ropes or in the corner hoping for a stoppage. If you knock a fighter down, you pounce. Some fighters can recover guard and work from there. Its an interesting fold in some fighters ground games.

Now if the fighter pounces and just lays there, then yeah absolutely stand them up, but if a dude is raining down punches, the guy on the bottom gotta work too.

In boxing the man is still standing though.

I don't know, I just always felt hitting a man while he's on his back as the line between sport and a straight up fight.
