So Carl Thomas "I Wish" didn't have you in your feelings back in the day?

That whole album was fire. Diddy knows how to give us classics. I personally think Carl Thomas is better than John Legend. John's music, for the most part, is very watered down, like elevator music. Which is really weird considering that he has a soulful voice.

That Dave Hollister run was amazing. I love when ain't shat dudes sing about their ain't shat-ness. It comes across as so geniune. Trey Songz did this in "Best for You" & Tyrese did this in "Better to Know"

Eh. john makes music for white folks like Lonel Richie. Not impressed. His first album was okay but never got into him.

But I will give puffy credit and say he can produce classics

And Gemini's sucks

This song was real AF

They don't make them like this anymore. Now dudes are proud to be the side nikka :snoop:

Exactly. Here what I noticed something. None of these current singers were bought up in a good ol' fashioned church. That's the reason most of these cats can't really blow live and are just mainly studio singers (need equipment and studio effect to sound good).

Take a look at past R&B / Soul great, they were bought up in the church. Sam Cooke, James Brown, Otis Redding, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, Ray Charles, Patti LaBelle, ect, ect came from the church. Heck, most of the people I named started out as Gospel singers

Most forms of media have been declining in quality with time. R&B sucks now because advances in studio technology mean singers don't need to be able to sing as well as they used to. Ever heard Rihanna live? She's not even R&B IMO and never has been

You are right!!! None of them were raised in the church. Even DMX went to church. The rappers today and so called r&b singers are souless.

Exactly. Rap sucks now because of the internet and focus on beats and catchy hooks instead of strong lyrics. Rick Ross can't rap for shyt but because he has hard beats people like him even though he's a proven fraud. Guys like Soulja Boy get deals through youtube because they can make hits even though their non-radio songs suck.

You noticed people on here talk about "He has great ears for beats" like :ohlawd: but didn't talk about how brilliant song is or how whack song is but they liked the hot beat.

Speak of DMX, his Pray Skits were more entertaining and its realer more than any whack mumble rapper puts whack popular songs today

I've said it before but Donell Where I wanna be & Craig David Born to Do it are two of the most underrated albums imo.

Side note: Just found out Anthony Hamilton co wrote U know what's up
@stomachlines :ohhh:

On the subject of Carl Thomas he had the music like a lot of 90's acts. He was never really gonna be bigger & he's not that interesting . Despite what people try to portray it wasn't strictly about the music in the 90's.

Anthony Hamilton also was a background singer for D'angelo during his Voodoo tour.
